Recién llegado en Lima...(Just arrived in Lima)

Whew! What a long day of flying...Washington, DC-San Salvador-Lima. I was super excited to finally meet my former colleague and great friend, Janet, en vivo (in real-life)! We had worked together on a project in Peru and I never had the chance to travel to the field. Not to mention, I promised years ago that I would get to Peru to visit for sure. A promise is a promise. So I did!

It was such an awesome reunion at the airport--Janet came to pick me up, which was such an awesome gift. Especially since she lives all the way on the other side of the city. Enroute to Miraflores, where I am staying, I got the drive-by tour of Callao, had chicha morena to drink, learned what a Custer (pronounced: cooster) is...a minibus, and talked about our plans for tomorrow to run around Lima and explore.

I checked into Pariwana Hostel, which is in the Miraflores district of Lima and right across from Parque Kennedy. Great location, safe, cheap, and typical for a hostel in terms of cleanliness or lack thereof. What is awesome is that they have electric outlets inside of the lockers! Love that.

Here's a picture of one of my roommates who is passed out from traveling from Buenos Aires

Buenas noches y hasta mañana!
