We were told that the bricks that made up much of this old fort was a mix of straw, adobe, and egg whites. So my question was: Que hicieron con la yema? What did they do with the yolk?
Sadly, no one could tell me.
El pirata-he claims to be the very last one there is :)
Mazmorra, a prison cell within the fortress, with narrow hallway tunnels...dark and cold.
Just as I would expect.
Views of Callao and the coast from the top of Fortaleza del Real Felipe.
Do you ever find yourself taking a step, taking a bite of food, then taking another step,
and another bit of food...? The little things...
An old building during our walk around town.
The afternoon was spent in more of central Lima, with the first stop being Museo San Francisco. There was a minimal entrance fee of S/3.5 complete with a guided walking tour. What was particularly interesting about this museum was the handpainted frescos on the walls but with missing faces. No one really knows if this was done intentionally, or if they had been removed at a later date. The catacombs beneath the church have some very artistically placed piles of bones from rich benefactors of the church, monks, and other important figures. Unfortunately, I was not able to take photos inside.
A couple of photos from Olivia, who was traveling through Bolivia and Peru.
